We do have multiple main characters that the story focuses on, but it’s a way to learn about Fleet society and culture in its entirety. The coolest change in this book is the focus on a society rather than a couple characters. Where the first one was a fun adventure through space slice of life and the second was a philosophical “who am I?” slice of life, this is a more traditional slice of life throughout. Just like the last two books, this one is a character driven sci-fi slice of life story, but a little different. The planetless ship-dwelling sector of humanity.
